National
Association for Stock Car Auto Racing
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing
(NASCAR) is the largest sanctioning body of motor sports in the United States of
America. NASCAR sanctions over 1,500
races at over 100 tracks, located in Canada, Mexico and 38 of the United States.
NASCAR is divided into racing series. The
different series allow for the fans to attend at many locations throughout the
year and the drivers to race in different classes and vehicle types. The
series are recognized as follows:
NASCAR Nextel
Cup Series
NASCAR Busch Series (Grand National Division)
NASCAR Winston Cup Series
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
NASCAR Weekly Racing Series
NASCAR Elite Series
NASCAR Grand National Divisions
NASCAR Regional Touring Series.
In 1948, beginning as regional entertainment in the southeastern United States, NASCAR has grown to become the second most popular professional sport, in
terms of U.S. television ratings, second only to the National
Football League (NFL). NASCAR races are broadcast in over 150
countries, hold 17 of the top 20 attended sporting events in the U.S. and
has 75 million fans that purchase over $2 billion (annually) in
officially-licensed NASCAR product
sales. NASCAR fans are considered the most brand-loyal of all sports and, as a
result, Fortune 500 companies sponsor NASCAR more than any other event.
NASCAR's headquarters and main office is located in Daytona Beach, Florida.
They also maintain offices in four North Carolina cities: Charlotte,
Mooresville, Concord and Conover, as well as New York City, New York; Los Angeles,
California; a licensing office in Bentonville, Arkansas and international offices in Mexico City, Mexico and Toronto, Canada.
Part of NASCAR's $2 billion in officially-licensed merchandise
belongs to timepieces. Unlike T-shirts, that need to be washed after every
use, or baseball hats, that are not proper attire for every occasion, NASCAR
timepieces may be worn with pride all the time and for every
occasion.
NASCAR Wrist
Watches, NASCAR Stop Watches and NASCAR Pocket Watches, depicting one's favorite
driver's signature and/or driver's number, are available in many styles and
colors, from various manufacturers.
