Women's Gold Watches
gold
noun
A soft, yellow,
corrosion-resistant element, the most malleable and ductile metal, occurring in
veins and alluvial deposits and recovered by mining or by panning or sluicing.
A good thermal and electrical conductor, gold is generally alloyed to increase
its strength or color, and it is used in
jewelry, bracelets, timepieces, as a plated coating on a wide variety of
electrical and mechanical components and
as an international
monetary standard. The portion of gold in the alloy is
indicated in karats (K) or Fineness.
When one hears "Gold Watch", they often think of the proverbial "Gold
Retirement Watch". This, is an icon of the past. Today, when
shopping for a gold wrist watch or any other gold timepiece, the choices are seemingly
endless. We, at Timepieces-2-Watch.com, are here to help you peruse the possibilities and educate you
on the exceptional. Remember, nothing is more important, than becoming an
educated shopper.
From the illusive Gold Digital LED Watch to the almost unattainable Oakley
Time Bomb Limited Edition, we can help you find it! But first ,before we
start shopping, let's learn
a little bit more about the gold that beautifies your favorite wrist watches,
pocket watches writing instruments and timepieces.
Foremost,
gold is very durable. For centuries, craftsmen have preferred this raw
material over others, because of its ease to work with and its beautiful
results. Gold can be melted, bent or sculpted, into almost anything
imaginable. As a soft, raw material, gold is not something to be worn every day,
but when mixed with other metals, craftsmen can increase its strength and even
change its color.
Different variations of colored gold are more popular today, than ever.
The most common colors are yellow, white and rose. The less common is
green. These colors are achieved by mixing other metals in with the gold,
to create a colored, lesser karat, gold alloy.
In regards to gold and gold alloy, karat weight refers to the percentage of pure
gold included in the piece being addressed. As mentioned above; mixing
other raw materials in with the gold changes, not only its color, but also its karat weight. However, 24
karat gold will always be yellow and, at the highest percentage, be
99.999% gold. As required by
law, all jewelry is to be stamped or molded with a quality mark. North
American jewelry will have the mark in karat weight (i.e.. 14K, 18K and so on).
Italian jewelry will include a "fineness" mark (i.e.. 583, 750 and so on).
